The Terry College of Business faculty are committed to preparing students for success in the diverse, global economy. Faculty-led study abroad programs are an important segment of the many opportunities for students to internationalize their business education. The Terry Study Abroad Scholarships are given to make global experiential learning more inclusive and accessible.
Applicant must must be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student in the Terry College of Business.
Applicant must be eligible for and have applied to a Terry College faculty-led study abroad program(s).
Applicant must be in good academic standing and demonstrate merit.
An applicant must demonstrate financial need. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Federal Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) to demonstrate financial need. For information, see http://osfa.uga.edu/application.html#fafsa.
Application must be complete by the deadline to be considered by the selection committee.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION
Complete all scholarship application questionnaires and materials in the UGA GoAbroad Portal.
Your personal essay should describe your interest in study abroad and how it relates to your personal and professional aspirations. The essay should be well composed (Div. of Academic Enhancement's Writing Center may provide guidance and/or review).
Request one recommendation from a UGA faculty member that describes the applicant’s academic and personal qualifications for study abroad. If the referee prefers to submit a written letter or e-mail, it should be addressed to the Terry Study Abroad Scholarship Committee and either uploaded to the application portal or e-mailed to email@example.com.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with the UGA Ofc. of Student Financial Aid to be sure their demonstrated financial need is up-to-date.
Applicants will be notified in the fall semester regarding awards via the GoAbroad Portal. Funds are disbursed to an awardee's UGA Student Account after Drop/Add week of the term in which s/he is enrolled in a Terry faculty-led study abroad program. The credit will apply to charges in the student account, then any remaining balance will be remitted to the awardee as a refund. The awarding timeline may not align with deadlines for program deposits or other upfront costs (e.g., airfare) that a program participant may incur.
Awardees are required to submit a Thank You letter to the scholarship sponsor prior to departure, share their study abroad experience via social media channels while abroad, and serve as a volunteer ambassador upon return in at least one Terry study abroad promotional event.
