Chinese Government Study Abroad Scholarship

DEADLINE FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
This full-ride scholarship supports two UGA students studying in a Chinese university for the Fall term or Academic Year. It covers registration, tuition, dorm on campus, fee for basic learning materials/textbooks, monthly living allowance, one-off settlement subsidy after registration, medical insurance, and one-off inter-city travel subsidy. The scholarships are offered through the Chinese Consulate General in Houston and the China Scholarship Council of the People's Republic of China.
There are two application phases:
Please complete this application, electronically send a recommendation form to a faculty member and upload an official UGA transcript, 1 language evaluation, pre-admission letter from a Chinese University, and personal statement (1 page, stating your study plan and goals). The Office of International Education will select qualified candidates to be recommended for phase 2.
The application deadline for Phase 1 is Tuesday, March 22, 2016.
In early April, the China Education Office will send an award letter and foreigner physical examination form to the qualified candidates, also the recipients will be informed of the Agency Number to fill out the Online Application Form.
GUIDELINES AND ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION
In order to enhance the applicants' opportunity to enter their targeted universities, they are strongly encouraged to contact the institution in China at which they are studying to obtain a letter of admission. They may refer to the Study in China website csc.edu.cn/laihua
for further information, including the list of the institutions that accept Chinese Government Scholarship winners, application procedure and relevant rules and regulations.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION
The package, including the printed online application form with the signature, a copy of the foreigner physical examination form should reach the education office before April 20 in order for us to submit it on time to the CSC (The Chinese Scholarship Committee). The applicants should keep the original physical examination form and submit it to their future host universities.
The CSC will select candidates based on academic merit, dedication to the study of the Chinese language and culture, originality of thought and purpose, and contribution to the development of the Chinese language and culture.
In early July, CSC will send the admission notice and JW201 (Visa Application for Study in China) to the qualified candidates.
