The two orientations and the guides were excellent in preparing me for the program.

The house's location was perfect and I felt safe all the time.

Even though there were some scary events happening in London, Oxford felt safe the entire time. I did not see or hear of a single crime happen during my three months there, and there's not much of a police presence needed.

The trip to Stratford-upon-Avon was, I felt, a great start to the program. It was an excellent way to introduce us to British culture and to each other. I also was grateful to go on the Bath excursion, and I enjoyed being able to learn some things by tagging along on a tutorial and being able to break off and experience the local culture. I mostly stayed in Oxford, so I didn't get much opportunity to do touristy things, but the excursions gave me the opportunity to do that.

It's a group effort, and if your housemates get along well, then there won't be any issues. The cleaning crew were wonderful as well, but my roommates and I never seemed to be able to get up in time to let them clean!

Heather Kimberly Huynh, Spring 2017 Participant
Personally, the UGA house was an excellent place to live. The Spring Franklin group was really great about cleaning up after themselves which helped.

While I most certainly did not eat every meal at the Keble Dining Hall, I certainly appreciated that I was able to eat there at any meal. As I am a vegetarian, it can be difficult in the States to find food for me, but not only did Keble always have options for me but all of the UK is actually pretty vegetarian-friendly.

This program made it possible to help me feel like a local.

There are so many opportunities to get involved at Oxford, but some students aren't aware of them. Recommend that students on this trip join the Keble Noticeboard page on Facebook if possible to stay up-to-date with university clubs and events.

I particularly loved being part of socials and clubs when term began, but it's a different experience for everyone. There were many things to choose from, but it's usually up to the individual to seek out things to do.

Heather Kimberly Huynh, Spring 2017 Participant
A lot of learning about culture depended on what you did with your time in Oxford. If you participated in a lot of school events, you would easily meet people. Because I met Keble students, I was able to have a much richer experience while in Oxford.

This program is incredible and becoming involved with it has been the best decision of my life. The program is very well-organized, especially considering how many UGA programs are held at Oxford each year. Although it is explained that the grading systems at Oxford and UGA are not the same, grading is very unclear, even after the program ends.

Anna Marie Davis, Spring 2017 Participant
Everyone was wonderful and attentive. I didn't really have any problems, but I always felt like I could approach any staff member if needed.

Hannah Dorothea Mason, Spring 2016 Participant
I came into the program not expecting a lot because I was disappointed in what I viewed as lack of organization - not knowing our seminar schedule until right before leaving, not knowing any of our excursions. The program, however, far exceeded my expectations. In all honesty, my time at Oxford represents some of my favorite college memories, and I learned a lot about myself over the course of the 12 weeks. It was a transformative experience.

Anna Marie Davis, Spring 2017 Participant
The program exceeded my expectations. I felt nervous about going on the program because I thought that an esteemed university like Oxford would be too difficult and stressful for me to handle. Once I arrived, however, I found that everyone is so kind and that though the workload is different and a lot, it's not impossible. My professors were wonderful, and my peers were understanding. I truly felt at home.

Hard to know what to expect in a situation like this, but I do know that my Oxford experience was greater than I ever thought imaginable.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the UGA at Oxford program! I would definitely reapply for another go around!

Sara Brodie Haire, Spring 2016 Participant
This program was incredible... Alex was the best "uncle" we could have with us. Enjoyed getting to know not only the people in the house, but at Keble! The academic rigor was amazingly difficult, but rewarding.

Be open to new experiences. Do that thing that scares you. Push your comfort zone. You'll be glad you did.

Katherine Elizabeth Henley, Spring 2016 Participant
I advise future participants to make the most of each day, to befriend Oxford students, and to try activities they might now otherwise get involved with. While three months is a long time for a study-abroad program in Oxford, it goes by quickly!

Be prepared to work hard but there is plenty of time to enjoy Oxford and its inhabitants.

Don't let the weight of schoolwork discourage you. Yes, it is a lot of work--probably the most you have ever experienced, but unlike most of us at UGA, in Oxford, your schoolwork is your ONLY responsibility. So enjoy the extra time you have and get to know Oxford. It truly is a unique city!

Lucas James Morgan, Spring 2017 Participant
Take chances, get outside of your comfort zone, and explore Oxford. It's your new home and it's a wonderful place.

Mallory Leeanne Widdis, Spring 2017 Participant
UGA at Oxford was 100% worth my time, money, and effort. Oxford becomes your home, and the people there are the kindest and most encouraging individuals I have ever met. You will be pushed academically like you have never been before, but it all pays off and you will walk away regretting nothing and wishing you could do it all over again.

Kristen Elizabeth Carter, Spring 2016 Participant
Be prepared to work like you never have before, but also to have the best semester of your life.

I have been looking forward to this trip for 2 years. Planning, wishing, hoping. I prepared myself to be let down because I knew how high my expectations were. Every last sky high expectation of mine was met or exceeded. This program quite honestly changed my perspective on who I am and what Im capable of. It will forever be one of the best things to ever happen to me.

Why UGA at Oxford? Why not UGA at Oxford?

Sara Brodie Haire, Spring 2016 Participant
It may not be a once in a life time experience going to England, but studying at Oxford and getting to know the roots of the city whether that be the most incredible library or just roaming the city has been the best experience of my life thus far.

Hannah Dorothea Mason, Spring 2016 Participant
My first day of class at the University of Oxford, my tutor said that he, or Oxford at the very least, would teach us to think. I remember thinking what an arrogant statement. I knew how to think. I would accept the title of colonist that he had given me, but I knew how to think. Little did I know that the rest of my 12 weeks at Oxford would prove him right. Oxford would teach me to think and would change my perception of academia.

Anna Marie Davis, Spring 2017 Participant
Oxford is the best.
It puts your brain to the test.
It made me feel bless'd.

Heather Kimberly Huynh, Spring 2017 Participant
The UGA at Oxford program had changed my life. I made some of the best friends I could ask for on this program and was able to experience the true Oxford experience.

Spring 2017 Participant
If you are looking for an easy, fun study abroad, Oxford is not the one for you. If you are looking for the best experience of your life thus far, choose Oxford all the way!

Lucas James Morgan, Spring 2017 Participant
Oxford is a special and formative experience. It's amazing to be surrounded by so many people who can bring new and interesting insights to any conversation while being immersed in a city with such a rich history.

Mallory Leeanne Widdis, Spring 2017 Participant
UGA at Oxford gave me an unforgettable experience that pushed me academically and allowed me to explore opportunities that were not possible before.
