China Study Abroad: Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors

Earn 3 credit hours during this 12-day Maymester adventure into the heart of the apparel manufacturing industry. This study abroad opportunity features visits to global sourcing companies, textile manufacturers, designer showrooms, and product development studios. You will experience Chinese culture, architecture, art, cuisine, history, and fashion in three burgeoning cities: Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing, in addition to guided field trips to many of the iconic landmarks of China. 

Program Location

Hong Kong (3 nights) - Victoria’s Peak, Central Financial District, Architectural Tour/River Cruise, Li and Fung, Oxford Products International Limited. Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Shanghai (3 nights) - The Bund, Oriental Pearl Tower, Silk Museum, Acrobatic Shanghai Circus World, Shanghai Tang, Nanjing Road, Yu Garden, SC Global Sourcing Inc.
Beijing (5 nights) – The Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Tea Ceremony, Drum Tower, Beijing Clothing Institute, Guo Pei’s Atelier - Rose Studio Fashion Co. Ltd., 798 Art District, Silk and Pearl Market Shopping, Hutong Tour by Rickshaw.
