UGA Exchange, Daito Bunka UniversityIn 1923, Daito Bunka University (DBU) was established by Parliamentary order as an Institute for the study of the Chinese classics and the promotion of Sinology. Since then, DBU has focused on research revolving around Asian cultures, while attempting "the fusion of Western and Eastern cultures." Our aim is to be a university where people and cultures around the world intersect, transcending borders. In 2013, DBU overcame many struggles to celebrate its 90th anniversary. Now, DBU is beautifying its Higashi-Matsuyama campus in Saitama Prefecture, a project which will end in 2015.
Program LocationDaito Bunka University has two campuses. One is in Higashi- matsuyama city, Saitama prefecture, which is located approx. 1.5 hours from central Tokyo. The other is in Itabashi-ku, which is approx. 30 minutes from central Tokyo. Japanese classes for exchange students are held at the Higashi- Matsuyama campus. DBU freshmen and sophomores, students in the Faculty of International Relations and the Faculty of Sports & Health Science, and graduate students in the School of Asian Area Studies and the school of Sports & Health Science take classes at the Higashi-Matsuyama campus. The Itabashi campus is located approx. 50 minutes from the Higashi-matsuyama campus. Juniors and seniors except those in the Faculty of International Relations and the Faculty of Sports & Health Science and graduate students except those in the School of Asian Area Studies and the school of Sports & Health Science take classes at the Itabashi campus.
