What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Definitely learning to see how different the business and social life is in Italy and also just all the people I got the opportunity to meet.

What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
It was really awesome to be immersed in the Italian culture by being in such a small town in Italy. Cortona was amazing; the people were friendly, charming, and fun to be around. I enjoyed the contrast of Cortona with the larger cities like Florence and Rome. Being able to actually see ancient structures, exquisite architecture, and world-renowned pieces of art was absolutely incredible. This was an experience I will never forget.

What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Go in with an open mind and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. I went in knowing no one on my trip and I'm very thankful that was the case because I met so many cool people who I will be friends with for the rest of college.

What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Be prepared to work hard if you take Tom Peterson's class on Italian Culture. You will be annoyed at first at all the work you have to put into it, but the pay off is totally worth it. I will admit that this class was one in which I did not know much of the subject matter to begin with, but I finished the program having learned an awful lot. I really appreciated his passion about the topic; he was always more than willing to share his wealth of knowledge about Italian Culture and history no matter where we were or what we were doing. It was really awesome to learn about people, places, and things in the classroom and then to go out and actually experience all of that for ourselves firsthand! Take advantage of the amazing opportunity to live in another country and do and see as much as you can, but don't slack on assignments and opportunities to learn because they are just as valuable!

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
The International Business class was really helpful for me because it allowed me firsthand looks into the lives of Italian business owners and employees and how they handle work-life balance so much differently from Americans. Because my goal is to become an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist and to improve the work environment for employees and businesses in a variety of aspects, I feel that the opportunity to see how another country, with significantly higher reports of life satisfaction and job satisfaction, balanced life and work. In the future, I will be able to look back on this experience to pull the traditional work-life ideals of Italy and put a modern, innovative spin on them to better the work lives of Americans.
