Program Testimonials
I would say that the opportunity to show myself that I can pick up and thrive in a new place was super important. It was challenging at times, but I felt as though there's something to be said about working hard and doing well in an entirely different country.

What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Program Testimonials
I have always been a quieter student, preferring to sit back ensure that the ideas and conclusions I reach are confirmed by others before presenting them to a classroom. Oxford stripped away the option to sit back in that comfortable, but dangerous, place and pushed me to not only express my ideas and opinions but to strive to understand why I reached those conclusions in the first place, and where I could push myself even further. The structure of tutorials changed everything about my academic experience. Having to complete essays on subjects before any discussion was held on them put the entire responsibility for understanding the material and creating opinions on my shoulders. It was entirely new and I came away confident that I can create valuable contributions to an academic discussion entirely out of my own interpretation and understanding of a topic. I have a newfound confidence in myself as a member of the academic community and, because of my experiences in Oxford, proof that I can do whatever else school brings my way for my last two years.

Program Testimonials
I was at first unsure if this program was right for me, but once I arrived I knew this was the right choice! Sure the classes and work may be tough at times, but it's so worth it. Challenging yourself intellectually and proving to yourself that you could do it was extremely satisfying. Being in Oxford really motivates you to work hard academically! The experience also challenged me personally (in a positive way) and I feel like I have grown into a better more experienced person. The six weeks went by too fast and I wish I could do it all over again. No regrets doing this program!

Yes! I really want to return to Oxford in the future, as this has been an amazing experience. My classes have made me even more enthusiastic to learn more about those subjects in the future, and the skills I learned with undoubtably help me with classes and work in the future. Everything I've learned and seen has impacted me a lot, and made me really want to come back for more classes or an internship.

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
Program Testimonials
I have always toyed with the idea of living abroad early after college, either for graduate school or work. However, I'm also a fairly cautious, hesitant person who sometimes gets in my own way in doing what I want to do. Applying for and committing to a program where I knew no one and where I knew I would be forced out of my comfort zone academically was a big leap. Now all I can think about is how to go back or how to have other similar experiences. I have no idea where I will end up in the next few years, and it could be a place very different from Oxford. But the value those 6 short weeks hold for me serves to reinforce that if I can make that leap, that I could make an even bigger leap, and that I will grow tremendously by doing so. I also have come to consider a future in academics (even just graduate school) much more seriously. Before I saw college as an exciting time to learn as much as possible, and then I would be free to go into the world and see what good I could do. But now I see that there is such a value to continuing to learn in a dedicated manner and I have started to consider graduate school, at Oxford or elsewhere.
— Mary Lindgren, Summer 2017

The experience helped me expand on my knowledge of the subjects I was interested in. I now can use this knowledge for future classes and possible job opportunities. Being able to add onto my resume that I had the opportunity to study at Oxford University is such an accomplishment that I am most proud of!
— Hannah Settle, Summer 2017
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
Program Testimonials
It made me realize that there's so many people out there that can be your friend. Being a shy person I thought I would have some trouble making them but you just have to put yourself out there and I did that. I definitely loved reading some of the material and it made me realize how much reading was fun and good to do. So I think I'm going to start reading a lot more.
— Dhaumya Shah, Summer 2017
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
Program Testimonials
The experience allowed me to gain confidence in my academic and interpersonal abilities. It also inspired me to apply to graduate programs abroad, as I feel like my work ethic and skill is up to a high enough standard that I thought I lacked prior to going on the program. After completing this program, I feel that with enough effort and drive I can pursue any academic/career endeavour I put my mind to.
