Final Reflection Questions
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
There were almost too many to count. Studying abroad in Oxford this summer without knowing anyone else on the program really gave me a wonderful opportunity to grow as a person. Being in a new country and learning to navigate a new place taught me so much about myself that I don't think I ever could have at home. I found myself being more independent and confident in who I was as a person, and as a result was able to make wonderful friendships and truly fall in love with the city of Oxford.
— Riley Muse, Summer 2016
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
I experienced a lot of growth, both as a student and global citizen, while abroad. Oxford challenged me to perform at a higher level of academia as well as opened my eyes to different cultures. Since, I have learned that I am capable of so much more than I had originally thought on top of falling in love with the world for a second time.
— Kristin Bradshaw, Summer 2017
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
The classes and the friends I made throughout the trip really made it an experience.
— Tessa Green, Summer 2017
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
I took away the ability to think for myself academically. The essays and tutorials were based on what I thought versus how a work fit a specific theory. I appreciated getting this perspective early on because it allowed me to think for myself.
— Brittany Helliar, Summer 2017
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
My most significant takeaways were the moments when I got to explore the country, either on excursions or on day trips. The moments when I was able to decide where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to learn where the happiest moments.
— Jocelyn James, Summer 2017

— Casey McDonald, Summer 2017
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
I really loved the structure of the Oxford tutorials. My tutor was awesome and I learned so much from her! I really loved both my Romanticism tutorial and my Grady seminar. The professors are very well selected to run the courses and bring in so many networking opportunities. This program not only provides with new knowledge from your courses, but from a new cultural experience as well. I loved being able to experience living in the Oxford culture while also being able to travel to new places.

— Danielle Lewan, Summer 2016
What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Enter with a completely open mind and heart! I think that the people on the program who entered with a set group of friends, and had already planned how they wanted to spend their weekends found themselves not gaining as much from the experience as I did. I came in with an open heart and was a result was forever changed.
— Riley Muse, Summer 2016
What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
I would advise prospective students to have an open mind, be a sponge. Soak every second in and be open to any and all experiences. There is so much to be gained from spending even just a brief time in Oxford. It's a magical city. However, I would also have to say stay on top of your work. That's sort of important too.
— Kristin Bradshaw, Summer 2017
What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Always plan for emergency. Take the opportunity to explore the places you're in. Wake up early and walk around. Be a tourist for a day, after that, be an explorer. Talk to the local people. Make yourself feel at home. Everywhere is a museum. Write down your experiences. Try new food, but don't be ashamed in indulging in things that remind you of home from time to time. Buy the keychain, it'll be a good reminder of where you've been. Don't be afraid to stand out. Respect other cultures, but stay true to your own.
— Jocelyn James, Summer 2017

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
It broadened my perspective on what I want to do and added travel to a list of things I hope to do in the future.
— Kalli Drake, Summer 2016
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
This is probably what many students say, but spending a prolonged amount of time in a new country made me fall in love with British culture, and taught me that that is a place I can see myself living and working at some point in my future. I just hope that somehow I am able to get back there!
— Riley Muse, Summer 2016
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
Oxford and my experiences abroad only increased my pre-existing desire to be a photojournalist. Never before have I felt more inspired and excited about seeing the world and telling the stories of different cultures.
— Kristin Bradshaw, Summer 2017
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
I realized that the world is larger than I could've imagined. Traveling is easy once you get the hang of it, after the first time you feel like seeing a new country every day. I'm more inclined to experience careers outside the field I was initially studying for. I've found that different countries see the USA with perspectives far different from our own. Even though there will always be cultural differences between people, it's never to hard or too late to make friends with those from other countries.
— Jocelyn James, Summer 2017
How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
This program allowed me to see my future job field from an international perspective. Our Grady excursions helped me to network with major companies while also seeing how the industry works from the U.K. perspective.
— Savannah Reece, Summer 2017
