What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
I was able to gain a greater understand of the culture of Islam and the plight of Muslims around the world and the way they believe they are being perceived and I was able to reevaluate and rethink how I view Islam and religion in general.
— Dorothy Rau, Maymester 2016
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Thepersonal relationships I developed with numerous Moroccan peers and places were truly significant. I feel that Marrakesh is a second home to me now, and I am eager to return there. They style, pace, and components of daily life are different there than in Athens or in Atlanta, where I am from. I enjoyed, often times preferred, the differing way of life which I was exposed to there.

What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
It was a very good trip, and I definitely felt like I experienced all of the main points in Morocco's history.

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
I certainly feel a strong connection and care for Morocco now. This trip has also made me want to study abroad for one semester, or a year even, as the change of scenery and the feeling of being away from the US was something good for me and my studies. I will try to study somewhere else now for some period of time.
