LOVED all of our excursions!

I was nervous about homestays and having roommates and both were absolutely amazing. All of the host families were inviting and loving. The dorms on campus were roomy and had plenty of space for the four of us that lived together. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe at any of the housing choices during the trip.

The meals were good - especially when we stayed with our host families!

Throughout the trip our teachers encouraged students to try different local foods. They would surprise students with snacks from the area, which allowed to try more things then they otherwise would. The dining hall accommodated several different dietary restrictions including vegetarian, gluten allergies, diary.

I loved spending time and interacting with the people of San Luis (and other locations of), Costa Rica. It allowed me to really learn about their culture and helped me redefine what it means to be a native Spanish speaker.

Throughout the trip we had a chance to meet locals and spend time with them. Including dinners, dances, an on campus concert, and walks around the city. Anytime the teachers found out about a new opportunities for students to get involved they would encourage students to attend and made school work around each new opportunity.

I could not imagine having different people in charge of the program. The teachers and staff were so personable. After the program I plan to stay in contact with my teachers as mentors in my life. They handled any challenging situations with professionalism.

This program included more than I could expect for a month trip to Costa Rica. We traveled often and had meals included. We went snorkeling, rafting, zip-lining, dancing, hiking, and visited multiple cities and a volcano. Fitting all of that in with three Summer classes was a perfect balance between getting credits and adventuring.

This was by far one of the greatest things I have ever done. I have never really been outside the country besides going to Canada which isn't a culture shock for me. I had so much fun interacting with the people of San Luis Costa Rica and getting to know all of the great people that were a part of my trip. Now that I am back in the states I am missing the country so much and I want to go back someday and visit my host family and do a deeper immersion in the culture.

Such a great program and I would recommend this to ANYONE looking to have an amazing study abroad experience.

I was unsure of what to expect when I arrived in Costa Rica, because I did not have time to research the country in detail past what we had been told during orientation. All I can say is that this program was 100x better than I could have expected. If I could go all over again I would. The country is beautiful and welcoming. The teachers are caring and personal.

Bring hiking boots! They keep your feet dry in all the rain. Water PROOF jackets are a must. Water resistant is not enough when walking to homestays in the rain. It went through my water resistant jacket and drenched my shirt. It gets really dark so a flashlight or headlight is also a must. Pack plenty of pants in case they get wet or muddy.

My UGA Costa Rica experience was a great experience for me not only educationally but also made me grow as a person.

Going to UGA Costa Rica is by far the best decision I have made in my four years here at UGA.

I was a little nervous going to a foreign country without knowing anybody, but our group bonded so quickly that by the end I was heartbroken not to get to spend every day with them anymore.

My professors made the program an unforgettable experience! San Luis de Monteverde is a snapshot of paradise.
