Barstow Scholarship

Eligibility: For UGA Biology majors attending a UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program. Education Abroad Scholarships come through support of William and Dolly Barstow and the Division of Biological Sciences at UGA. 3.0 minimum GPA, demonstrated financial need required. Must not have previously studied abroad for academic credit at the university level.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Fall and Spring.

Preference given for relevance of program to careers in biology, academic merit, financial need, record of extracurricular and service activities and strong faculty recommendation.

Diversity Scholarship

Eligibility: This scholarship is intended for UGA undergraduates and graduate students in order to increase the participation of underrepresented students in study abroad programs. Diversity Abroad Scholarships come through support of the Office of International Education and the Office of Multicultural Services and Programs. Eligible candidates should be planning to attend a UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program, have a completed program application for the said program in the GoAbroad Portal and have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA on record with the Office of Student Financial Aid. Economically disadvantaged students, U.S. military veterans, first-generation, LGBTQ, students with disabilities and ethnic and racially diverse students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Amount: Six awards of $2,000 each are available for this scholarship.

Deadline: Application will be accepted twice a year, with deadlines in Fall and Spring.

Elizabeth Suzanne Schaefer Scholarship

Eligibility: Only for UGA undergraduates and UGA graduate students attending External or UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program. Scholarships come through support of the Schaefer Sammons family to the Elizabeth Suzanne Schaefer Fund. 3.0 minimum GPA.

Amount: The award amount for this grant is up to $5000 per student.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Fall and Spring.

Preference given for academic merit, applicants from under-represented student groups in Education Abroad (i.e. students of color, first generation college students, students from rural Georgia, math/science majors, etc.), participation in programs with language/cultural immersion component or located in an under-represented geographic region (i.e. ideally outside of Western Europe). All students are encouraged to apply.

Katherine John Murphy Scholarship

Eligibility: Only for UGA undergraduates attending a UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program. Education Abroad Scholarships come through support of the Murphy family to the Katherine John Murphy Fund, as well as supported by UGA Foundation Funds. 3.3 min. GPA required, demonstrated financial need, and must not have previously studied abroad for academic credit at the university level.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Fall and Spring.

Preference given for academic merit, financial need, strong record of extra curricular and service activities, and strong faculty recommendation.

Kay Family Study Abroad Scholarship

Eligibility: UGA undergraduate attending a UGA-sponsored or approved External education abroad or exchange program for one semester (Fall or Spring) or full academic year. These scholarship funds are available through the generosity of the family of Tripp Kay, a University of Georgia Alumnus. Award based on demonstrated financial need, relevance of study abroad program to both the student’s academic and career goals, strong faculty reference, history of campus involvement and/or service at UGA.

Amount: The award amount for this scholarship is $2,500.

Michael F. & Mary E. Adams Study Abroad Scholarship

Eligibility: Only for UGA undergraduates attending a UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program. Scholarship funds supported by the Michael F. and Mary E. Adams Study Abroad Scholarship Fund, established at the 10th year anniversary at UGA. 3.0 minimum GPA required, demonstrated financial need, must not have previously studied abroad for academic credit at the university level.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Spring and Fall.

Preference given for academic merit, financial need, relevance of study abroad program to both the student’s academic and career goals, strong faculty reference, history of campus involvement and/or service at UGA.

OIE International Education Fellowship

Eligibility: Only for UGA undergraduates attending a semester/full-year UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program . 3.0 minimum GPA.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Spring and Fall.

OIE Study Abroad Scholarships

Eligibility: Scholarships for UGA undergraduates attending a UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program. 3.0 minimum GPA. Have at least 1 semester remaining at UGA after program.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Spring and Fall.

Preference given for academic merit, financial need, relevance of study abroad program to both the student’s academic and career goals, strong faculty or employer reference, history of campus involvement and/or service at UGA.

UGA Alumni Association Study Abroad Fellowship

Eligibility: Only for UGA undergraduates attending a semester/full-year UGA-sponsored study abroad or exchange program . 3.0 minimum GPA. Have at least 1 semester remaining at UGA after program.

Deadline: Twice a year deadline in Spring and Fall.
